A digestive enzyme and probiotic supplement built around the whole sequence
Walk down any supplement aisle and you will find shelves of single-stage
formulas. Enzymes on their own. Probiotics on their own. Something soothing for
the stomach lining on its own. Each addresses one part of a process that has
four parts — which is a reasonable way to make a product and a frustrating way
to support digestion.
Digestive & Gut Health was formulated the other way around.
How the four stages work
Stage one is acid. Stomach acid begins protein breakdown, signals the pancreas
and gallbladder to release enzymes and bile at the right moment, and helps
unlock minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and B12 from food. Acid
output naturally declines with age, which is the part most people get backwards.
Stage two is enzymes. These break carbohydrates, fats and proteins into pieces
small enough for the body to absorb.
Stage three is the lining. This is the surface where absorption actually
happens, and its comfort matters.
Stage four is flora. The bacterial population that finishes the work — the stage
a standard probiotic supports.
When stage one is lagging, everything downstream is working with food that was
never fully broken down. Supporting stage four alone, in that situation, tends
to produce partial results.
What is in it and why
Betaine HCl, 400 mg — supports the stomach’s natural acidic environment, where
protein digestion begins.
DigeZyme® enzyme blend, 100 mg — a studied blend of amylase, protease, lactase,
cellulase and lipase, supporting the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins, milk
sugars, plant fiber and fats.
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice root (DGL), 250 mg — traditionally used to support
the comfort of the stomach and intestinal lining. Deglycyrrhizinated so it can
be used without the blood pressure concerns of whole licorice.
Slippery elm bark, 200 mg — a demulcent botanical that forms a soothing gel,
supporting the comfort of the digestive tract lining.
Marshmallow root extract, 100 mg — a second demulcent, working alongside
slippery elm.
Probiotic blend, 10 billion CFU — supports a healthy, balanced population of
beneficial bacteria.
Cape aloe, 15 mg — a low, gentle amount to support comfortable regularity.
How to take it
Up to 2 capsules with your largest meal. Taking it with food matters — these
ingredients are meant to work alongside a meal, not on an empty stomach. Most
people who notice a difference notice it within the first one to two weeks.
Give any digestive support at least 30 days of consistent use before drawing
conclusions.
An honest note
This formula supports normal digestion. It cannot tell you why your digestion
changed, and neither can any page on the internet. If your symptoms are severe,
persistent, or new, that deserves a proper evaluation with your physician rather
than a supplement. If you take medication that affects stomach acid, check with
your prescribing physician before starting.
If you would like the fuller explanation — why acid declines, why the timing of
discomfort is a clue, and what supports each stage — we wrote it out here:
